I'm (sort of) Going To The Grammy's (Again)

Weeeee!

If you read my other blog last year, you would remember that time I worked the Grammy's MusiCares Person Of The Year event, honoring Paul McCartney. Sorry Sir Paul McCartney. That year was so fun because I got to meet all kinds of artists (Katy Perry, Alicia Keys, Wilco, James Taylor, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Josh Groban, Crosby Stills & Nash, just to brag and name a few) all of them super kind and awesome in person (Dave Grohl is my favorite!). Nikki Minaj, pardon my French, is a stuck up bitch. Any who, nothing beats the time I worked the event in 2010 and met my favorite singer ever, Mr. Dave Matthews.

This year I get to work the event again (trust me when I say although meeting musicians is freakin amazing, it truly is work. Standing on my feet for 12 hour days). And they are honoring The Boss Eeeeee! I get to meet Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, STING!, John Legend, FREAKIN EDDIE VEDDER, Patti Smith and Faith Hill to name a few. Then I get to run over to the Grammy rehearsals Friday night and cross my fingers I see Justin Timberlake. Swoon!
This is a total brag post, I know. I should be posting about wedding planning or something, right? Meh, I'll get around to that post someday. In the meantime, be jealous. I'm sure ill come back and post pictures if you don't already follow me on Instagram (@laurnie).

Week One

I believe 2013 will be a crazy year for me. Between planning a wedding (and paying for it) as well as searching for and buying a house (and of course paying for it) I might be at my wits end come November. But at this point in the year, I am nothing but excited. Granted we have only made it through one week. But, being the crazy planner I am, I already have my dream venue, my photographer, my caterer, my DJ and the hotel for the guests blocked. Time to sit back and relax, right?

I tried not to make resolutions this year given I have so much to already accomplish on my to do list, but I did make a few mental notes of things I'd like to do.

1. Get back to working out. Wes and I decided we wanted to be in the best shape of our lives at the wedding. Why the wedding date, I'm not sure. Its not like we will be wearing clothing that reveals our ripping muscles, or running marathons at the reception. Maybe it's just a date we choose to meet the goal.

2. Go back to my clean eating. This past summer I followed an eat clean way of living and felt amazing. Of course I didn't know how amazing I felt until I stopped eating clean. I've been sick, tired and had crazy asthma and ailments that I think have a little bit of a connection to my diet. I tried going sugarless for one day and wanted to hurt everyone who talked to me, so I let a little sugar back into my life. Plus it's hard to give it up when your future husband brings you a bowl of vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup every night while you watch Futurama together before bed.

3. Read. This makes my list every year, and I usually fail. I'd like to read one book a month. I think last year I read one book all year. I have a bookcase full of books to read and they are collecting a nice little pile of dust. This doesn't help my new onset of asthma.

And that's my whole list. I usually add save money and pay off debt. But guess what, that's already been done :-) Yay for me! Well the pay off debt part. I will forever be saving money but I don't think I need to make a resolution about it.

So in the first week of the new year, nothing super exciting happened, but I did get to celebrate this guys birthday.

That Time Fauxgagement Pics Turned Me Into A Fiancée

Two weeks ago Wes and I spent 6 days in Chicago and Lake Geneva, WI. We did the usual sightseeing, stuffing our faces and shopping. Once we got to WI, it was time to relax with friends hang out, and take Fauxgagement pics. What are fauxgagement pictures, you ask? I knew I would marry Wes someday, and I knew I wanted to have fantastic engagement pictures with a fall scene. I live in Texas - fall is brown. Just brown. So I asked my super talented friend Valerie to take some pics for us, to use in future. Little did I know Wes had a trick up his sleeve...


And now I am a fiancée :-)
